Overview of Driving with GPSS
Previous  Top  Next

GPSS can find where you are better than you can, because it doesn't have to squint to read the small print or find where on the map you should be looking.

It also has a better sense of direction than you do -- and GPS technology can show you where you are within a couple of feet.

Requirements
Driving with GPSS requires
·Basic safety skills (see Safety)
·Portable computer with power source and port (serial, USB, PC Card...) compatible with your GPS unit
·GPS unit with power source (mine runs off the PS-2 port of the portable) capable of communicating to your computer
·GPSS software with maps of the area you're driving
·Basic ability to read the map on the screen

If you don't yet have a GPS unit:
You can find a good discussion of today's best bets on Robin's page on buying a GPS unit.
