While running GPSS, if you type "`" (accent grave, unshifted keypress of the tilde/accent grave key, left of numeral "1"), GPSS goes into a search mode.

A long, lime green bar appears, with a shorter green bar under and to the right:
clip0020

You key in any set of letters (they appear in the shorter bar at lower right) and GPSS searches for places or points that begin with whatever you've keyed in. Then you hit ENTER.

If you type just "a" and hit ENTER, you'll find all locations beginning with that letter. On the map above, that's Asbury Grove.

Type SPACE to find the next location beginning with "a," and so on.

Type "d" if you want to set your found place as your destination.

Some details on the search
If you type "asco," with the default installation you'll find only Ascot... type SPACE again, and GPSS looks for the nearest population center.

Note: if GPSS is talking to you when you do this, it dutifully spells out each letter, interrupts by telling you about where you are right now and how fast you are moving, and the like, slowing the process.

If you want to speed up the search, before you type "`" type "q" to silence GPSS ("Ok, I'll be quiet," it says resignedly).

There are a number of search entry options:
