What is GPSS?

GPSS from Sunninghill Systems marries a GPS receiver to Windows or hand-held computers. It is a full-featured program with many uses for personal, business and commercial purposes.

When you, the GPS enthusiast, use GPSS in a personal mode, GPSS will help you bring out the best in your GPS unit. The software is especially useful if you've spent next month's grocery money on your GPS hardware, because Robins allows individuals free use of GPSS, the GPS Software, to promote it worldwide.

As Robin says,
GPSS can be used in many ways, but the main two are:
·    on a Notebook PC or Car-PC with GPS directly connected - for Navigation.
·    on a PC to track one or more vehicles remotely over a communications network.

What GPSS can do for the enthusiast:

·Show you exactly where you are on maps
·Show you the location of your destination on maps
·Tell you how fast you are traveling
·Tell you your compass heading
·Tell you how far you have come
·Tell you how far (as the crow flies) you need to go

What it can do, with effort on your part:

·Provide you information about sights, restaurants, gas stations
·Record the history of how you proceeded from one spot to another

What it can do with enhancements from GPSS business partners:

·Give you turn-by-turn instructions
·Tell you what road you are on

A couple of things it does not do:

·It does not automatically develop and supply routing information
·It doesn't know any local sights or towns other than ones you add manually
·It does not follow conventional Windows interface conventions
